WATCH: PEREIRA KOS PROCHAZKA
The Main Event was finally here as Alex Pereira took on Jiri Prochazka. Pereira was defending his title in a five-round contest and the highly anticipated rematch. This fight was scheduled around two weeks before the event as the original fight “Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler” fell through. The light heavyweight title was the prize of winning this contest as Pereira defeated Prochazka in their first contest despite many believing Prochazka was winning the fight ahead of the TKO finish.
Both Pereira and Prochazka won by way of KO/TKO at UFC 303 so this fight was well within reach.
This is arguably the best fight to make at light heavyweight and the anticipation was extremely high.
Prochazka made his walk to the ring first as expected being in the blue corner and the challenger for the title.
Pereira made his legendary walk following Prochazka as he did his arrow celebration that has made so many of us memories along the way.
The champ and the former champ once again had an insane stare-down before the fight like the first fight which made headlines.
Bruce Buffer gave his introductions and it was finally time to fight.
The stare-down did not break up until the fight.
Both fighters landed some nice strikes but the leg kicks from Pereira in the first minute were the difference maker. Leg kicks from Poatan are not fun. Both fighters looked calm and ready to strike. Pereira looked sharper writhing the first half-round. His punches were more powerful. Prochazka took the champion up to the fence grappling but Pereira landed some good rib shots with his back against the fence. He landed some good shots. Pereira landed a huge knockdown at the end of round one which stumped him badly. 10-9 was the score I gave Pereira.
In the second round, it ended quickly as Pereira landed an insane head kick which put Prochazka’s lights out.
What a moment.
Pereira vs Aspinall seems to be a fun one.
