KEVIN HARVICK CIRCLES THE ONE DRIVER THAT HAS TO BE THE CHOICE FOR HAAS FACTORY TEAM AFTER SHR CLOSURE

Kevin Harvick believes there’s only one driver to represent the newly-formed Haas Factory Team for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. In the latest episode ofKevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick said Cole Custer should be chosen to drive the chartered car.

“Cole Custer gets drugged in the middle of all this stuff,” Harvick said. “It’s his dad [Joe Custer] running the team, and Cole does a heel of a job. Cole does a great job. I just feel like that if Cole could ever break out of this whole thing with the [Gene] Haas and Joe and all the family ties, I believe he could make a career out of this.

“I think that there’s just so many things, so much baggage that goes with the situation right now. Let’s just say this, if it’s going to be a one-car team it better be Cole Custer driving it. If it’s not Cole Custer driving I would assume it’s going to be a Haas automation car based upon the release, it better be Cole Custer driving it. He’s the most experienced driver that you can go get. He’s within all the things that are entangled into the Haas and Joe Custer situation. Cole has been able to deal with it and succeed and do the things that he needs.”

Harvick went on to say that it would “frustrate” him if Cole Custer is not the driver selected by Haas Factory Team. The former NASCAR driver and current Fox Sports NASCAR analyst added that the team should support Custer with a “boatload of money” for him and the team to succeed.

Kevin Harvick has a message for Haas Factory Team

“You’re going to have to overpay the people to create the foundation you need to re-establish it,” Harvick said.”Got to have the people, and the only way you get the people is to pay them. Pay the people.”

Custer has been driving in the Xfinity Series for Stewart-Haas Racing for the last two seasons. He won the Cup Series title last year and is currently in first place in the Xfinity Series standings. Last weekend Custer talked about the possibiltiy of driving the Cup car for HFT.

“Yeah, I mean, I’d love to,”Custer said on the USA broadcast. “You know, that’s what my career has been I guess is it’s always tied to – that relationship. I think you know what Gene Haas has done in this sport and you know it would be a dream come true to get to run that Cup car. I’ve tried to go back to the Xfinity Series to prove what I can do and try and make the most of it and you just kind of try and hope it all sorts itself out.”
