ARCHIE MANNING IS FIRED UP ABOUT LANE KIFFIN'S NEW-SCHOOL APPROACH

Lane Kiffin has embraced the new era of college football, and he's getting the approval from one of the most notable alumni in Ole Miss history.

Former Rebels quarterback Archie Manning attended the Manning Passing Academy with his two sons as top quarterbacks from around the country came to the event. When asked about his feelings regarding his alma mater's upcoming season, Manning had nothing but positive things to say about Kiffin's program.

"I love reading everything about the anticipation of the season at Ole Miss," Manning revealed to the Clarion Ledger. "Lane (Kiffin)'s the king of the portal. I hope all those players kind of get to know each other and come together. But people are picking them. I know it's a talented team. I know it's a tough league, but it's great anticipation. It's wonderful for Ole Miss for people to be excited about the season."

Not every old-school football player is on board with the NIL and transfer portal era. Manning is all on board, however, particularly because Kiffin boasts the No. 1 transfer portal class for the 2024 season according to 247Sports

Manning's approval should mean a lot to Kiffin and his staff. The father of Peyton and Eli, ,Archie was the SEC Player of the Year and a third-team All-American in 1969. He eventually made the College Football Hall of Fame, and had his No. 18 jersey retired by the Rebels.

As for Kiffin, he's hoping to finally lead the Rebels into the College Football Playoff this season. Ole Miss has gone 34-15 during Kiffin's time as head coach, including an impressive 11-2 record this past season. With an expanded playoff format, the Rebels will have a very real chance to find their way into the postseason with another strong year.
