BOSTON CELTICS OWNER HAD MESSAGE FOR EMPLOYEES AFTER NEWS OF SALE

The Boston Celtics have been in the news a lot this week.

After agreeing to new contracts with Derrick White and Jayson Tatum, Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck announced that he would be selling all of his shares in the franchise and told all of his employees.

Grousbeck also confirmed that there will be no changes to the business or basketball side of the organization.

“In an all-hands call Monday, Grousbeck told Celtics employees there are no plans to change anything on the business or basketball sides at this time, according to one person on the call,” a report from The Athletic reads

Grousbeck will continue to be the team's governor until 2028 and a majority interest of the ownership will be sold this year or early next year.

The Celtics are coming off their first NBA title in 16 years after taking down the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals. They were the best team in the NBA throughout the season and proved it in the playoffs.

There's a chance that the franchise could be sold for $5 billion, which is what the team is valued at right now.
