"LOSER MANAGER WHO DOESN'T HOLD ANYONE ACCOUNTABLE" - MLB COMMENTATOR CRITICIZES YANKEES' AARON BOONE AFTER TRENT GRISHAM'S LACK OF DEFENSIVE EFFORT

It's been a rough stretch for the New York Yankees and their manager Aaron Boone. After opening the year as one of the strongest teams in the MLB, the Bronx Bombers have been in an extended funk lately, posting a disappointing 2-8 record over their last 10 games.

As if things could not be worse for the New York Yankees, the team put together yet another poor effort on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds. New York was favored heading into the July 4th matchup, however, things quickly got out of control with the club ultimately losing 8-4.

There was a clear lack of effort throughout the game, with one play on defense garnering plenty of attention online. On a routine single hit to center field, New York's Trent Grisham appeared to lazily approach the ball before bobbling it in his hands. The lackadaisical play allowed Reds infielder Jeimer Candelario to turn the single into a double.

Although Grisham was the defender in the play, it is not only the outfielder who is taking the blame. MLB commentator Tom Scibelli put the blame on New York's manager Aaron Boone. "Plays like the one Grisham just made routinely happen when you have a loser manager who doesn't hold anybody accountable," Scibelli posted on his X account.

It's clear that something is not right in New York at the moment. Although there could be a number of excuses made, losing 8 of their last 10 games suggests that a change may need to take place sooner rather than later.

The New York Yankees could look to the trade market to shake things up

It is unlikely that the New York front office would be willing to relieve Aaron Boone of his duties as the team's manager, so they may look to improve their roster. A number of injuries to stars, including Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo have plagued the team. This could lead the team to pursue talent outside of the organization.

The Bronx Bombers have been linked to a number of players who could be traded this summer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Luis Robert Jr., Mason Miller, Brent Rooker, and Garrett Crochet are just a few names that have been floating around in trade rumors, if the Yankees are looking to shake things up, adding one of these players could do so.
