NASCAR SILLY SEASON UPDATE: JOSH BERRY EXPECTED TO BE ANNOUNCED BY WOOD BROTHERS RACING TOMORROW

Josh Berry is expected to move to Wood Brother Racing in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, as reported by motorsports reporter Jordan Bianchi. The team currently runs one charter with Harrison Burton.

Berry is currently in his first full-time Cup Series season, racing for Stewart-Haas Racing. However, he does not have a seat for the 2025 season since SHR earlier announced that they will be shutting down their operations in the series at the end of this season.

Given Josh Berry's lack of experience racing in the Cup Series, it was always going to be difficult for him to find a seat for the 2025 season. Moreover, he raced in the Xfinity Series for only two seasons.

However, according to NASCAR reporter Jordan Bianchi, Wood Brothers Racing, which currently has one charter running with Harrison Burton, will sign Berry.

"Wood Brothers Racing will announce tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET its driver for the 2025 season. Sources tell @TheAthletic that Josh Berry is finalizing a contract with the team," he wrote on X.

Rodney Childers "would love to" continue working with Josh Berry in the future

Rodney Childers currently serves as Berry's crew chief. Having been a driver himself, he recently expressed his concerns over Berry's uncertain future in the Cup Series.

Speaking on SiriusXM NASCAR radio, Childers stated that he is a huge supporter of Josh Berry, and that the two share mutual respect. While there is no official confirmation of the driver's future yet, he expressed his wish to continue working with him in the future.

"I have been a huge supporter of him, and honestly he has been a huge supporter of mine. I think that's why he has made it work so well. We have a ton of respect for each other," Childers said.
"I would love to stay with him. I don't know if that can happen. We both have a lot of different things going on, it seems to change about every two hours and it's hard to navigate. Somedays it's as confusing as it can be, and other days it's pretty straightforward," he added.

Berry has yet to win a race in the series. He did, however, succeed in finishing P3 in Darlington and New Hampshire earlier. In two other events, at Charlotte and Iowa, he finished in the top ten.
