CM PUNK HOPES TO GET CLEARED TO WRESTLE NEXT WEEK

CM Punk made a surprise appearance in the main event of Clash at the Castle today (Sat., June 15, 2024) in Glasgow, Scotland, to screw Drew McIntyre out of the world heavyweight championship. He dressed up as a referee and mocked McIntyre before delivering a low blow that led to Damian Priest scoring the win.

Punk got just physical enough that it led folks to wonder if the timing is right for him to be cleared to actually wrestle again. After all, some big shows are coming up fast and this feud with McIntyre is about to reach its apex.

When asked about it at the post-show press conference, Punk cracked wise about the role it played in his dastardly officiating deeds before revealing he’s got an appointment to see about getting cleared much sooner rather than later:

“I’ve been cleared only for referee duty. I had a little bit of a hiccup out there so we’ll go back to the lab and reassess. I can tell you that my arm feels amazing. I got permission to skip Raw in Corpus Christi to go home to Chicago to see my doctors with the idea that I’m going to be cleared. So, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that but throughout my career saying stuff I’m not supposed to say has done me well, so why stop now? I think SmackDown is in Chicago next week so… I’m a Raw guy but I’m going to skip Raw, I’m going to get cleared, and then I’m going to show up to SmackDown to let everybody know the good news. Hopefully. Keep ‘em crossed.”

SmackDown will indeed take place at the Allstate Arena on June 21, and it sounds like we’ve got something big to look forward to on that show.
