DODGERS NEWS: LA CATCHER DFA'D BY NATIONAL LEAGUE RIVAL

Tucker Barnhart, a former minor league catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks. This move, reported by the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro, comes just before the Diamondbacks face off against the Dodgers this week.

Barnhart has struggled this season, recording a career-low batting average and slugging percentage. In 31 games, he managed a .173 batting average, a .287 on-base percentage, and a .210 slugging percentage, with 14 hits, 13 runs, and six RBIs.

Before joining the Diamondbacks in January, Barnhart had a notable career with the Cincinnati Reds, where he debuted in 2014 and played until 2020. He earned two Gold Glove awards during his time with the Reds.

Following his stint in Cincinnati, he played for the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs. He was released by the Cubs in mid-2023 and then signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers before opting for free agency later that year.

In 2023, Barnhart appeared in seven games for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, posting a .227 batting average, a .370 on-base percentage, and a .273 slugging percentage, with five hits and four runs. Over his major league career, Barnhart has a .241 batting average, a .318 on-base percentage, and a .351 slugging percentage, with 53 home runs and 292 RBIs.
