WOOD BROTHERS MAKES NEW DRIVER ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2025 NASCAR CUP SERIES

The Wood Brothers Racing team has announced that Josh Berry will join their NASCAR Cup Series lineup on a multiyear deal.

On Wednesday morning, Berry was announced as the newest driver for the Wood Brothers Racing team. The 33-year-old's deal is set to begin at the start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, replacing Harrison Burton and taking over the No. 21 car.

"When you think of the history and legacy of NASCAR, it's hard to not think of the Wood Brothers and the incredible impact they've made on the sport. It's an honor and a privilege to be a small part of carrying on that legacy," said Berry in his first press release with the team. "To be able to add my name to the list of drivers who have piloted the iconic No. 21 is something I don't take lightly."

Berry's addition to Wood Brothers Racing isn't just a new chapter-it's a continuation of legacy and history. Founded by Glen Wood in 1950, the racing team has revolutionized pit stop concepts and pushed the limits of racing technology in the early stages of the sport, earning a spot in NASCAR lore with victories at the Daytona 500 in 1963, 1976, and 2011, among other celebrated wins.

Before joining Wood Brothers Racing, Berry drove the No. 20 car for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series. He is currently navigating his first full-time Cup Series season, sitting at No. 19 in the standings with 70 laps led. Despite not securing any stage wins, Berry has impressed with three top-five finishes at Darlington Raceway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

"Over the years, we've had the privilege of working with a multitude of successful drivers, and now having the opportunity to add Josh Berry to that list is a significant milestone for our team," said President Jon Wood during his announcement.

"Josh brings a wealth of talent and determination, evident thorough his success in every level of competition, from grassroots NASCAR to present day. He fits the values of our team, and we believe that with Josh behind the wheel, we will achieve great things together on the track."

Despite a rich history, Wood Brothers Racing has faced challenges in recent years, fielding only one car in the Cup Series. After the Nashville race, the team is currently in 34th place in the Owner's Championship standings. Historically, the team has only won the NASCAR Cup Series Owner's Championship once, back in 1963.

With Berry joining the team, Wood Brothers Racing is hopeful for a resurgence. They aim to reclaim their former glory and competitiveness in the sport. Berry's addition could be the catalyst for improving their standings and performance in the upcoming seasons.
