WHAT LOSING FOR DAKORIEN MOORE MEANS FOR THE 2024 RECRUITING CLASS

The Texas Longhorns whiffed for Dakorien Moore. There's no way around it. For the second time this cycle, the Longhorns' top priority, Moore, committed to another team.

The former LSU Tigers commit chose the Oregon Ducks on Thursday. It appears Texas didn't match what Oregon brought to the table. The loss undoubtedly leaves a sting for the Texas coaching staff.

For Texas, it should mean moving to the next top receivers and building a 2025 wide receiver class.

Five-star wideouts Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench have long seemed fond of the Longhorns. Texas would be wise to dedicate its focus there.

Given how much time Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has invested in Moore, continuing to court the player as a top priority doesn't make much sense. If Moore wanted to play for Texas, he likely would have committed the first or second time.

Despite the disappointment, several big time potential players are still considering Texas. The Longhorns will need to rebound in a big way to make up for the highly publicized loss.

Texas will hope to earn a commitment or more over the weekend with a handful set to announce over the next few days.
