"THIS IS NOT THE END OF MY STORY" - KAYLA DICELLO PENS AN EMOTIONAL MESSAGE FOLLOWING HER WITHDRAWAL FROM THE OLYMPIC TRIALS

Kayla DiCello poured out her feelings after withdrawing from the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, citing an injury. The 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, held at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota from Thursday, June 27 to June 30, will declare the national squad to compete in Paris on the last day of the event.

DiCello stepped into the Target Center arena to vie for the Olympic spot for the second time after serving as an alternate at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 2023 World Championships and Pan American Games gold medalist participated in the Trials as one of the favorites to secure a spot. However, the 20-year-old had to withdraw from the competition even before commencing her Olympic campaign.

DiCello sustained an Achilles injury during the initial moments of the vault routine and had to be carried off the mat with the help of medical personnel. After watching her Olympic quest ending prematurely, she took to social media to express her heartbreak, while expressing her gratitude towards fans and her team.

"Thank you so much for all your love and support," she wrote. "Unfortunately, I ruptured my Achilles on the opening event at Olympic Trials. While this is not the result I envisioned, there's so much to be proud of. Years of tireless work and dedication in the gym with the dream of representing my country once more at the Olympic Games. Pushing myself to go after new skills, new dreams."
"As I begin my healing journey, I'm thankful for your prayers and good wishes. This is not the end of my story," she added.
