TEAM USA SUFFERS CRUSHING INJURY WEEKS BEFORE SUMMER OLYMPICS

Team USA's women's gymnastics team has suffered a crushing loss weeks before the Summer Olympics.

Skye Blakely, a standout performer for the women's gymnastics team, suffered a painful injury at practice on Wednesday, that reportedly left her in tears.

While she is a favorite to make the USA roster for the Summer Games, her status is now in doubt, due to the injury.

The Washington Post had more:

Skye Blakely, one of the top contenders to earn a spot on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics, suffered an apparent leg injury during a training session Wednesday. Her status for the trials, which begin Friday for the women, is unclear.

Blakely landed short on a tumbling pass, and she stayed on the floor while being evaluated by the medical staff. She had to be carried off the floor and then exited the arena in a wheelchair with her face in her hands.

It would be devastating if Blakely is unable to go at the trials and ultimately miss the Summer Games in Paris.

She finished second in the all-around to Simone Biles earlier this year and could be a medal contender in Paris.

Hopefully, it's not as serious as it looked.
