SHA'CARRI RICHARDSON NARROWLY MISSES OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION AT 200M RACE

Last weekend Sha'Carri Richardson bought her ticket to Paris with a dominating win in the 100-meter dash. Unfortunately, the fastest woman in America for 100 meters won't be representing her country at the 200-meter race.

During today's U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials, Gabby Thomas, Brittany Brown and McKenzie Long all qualified for the 200-meter race. Per Track & Field Gazette on X, Thomas took the gold in the United States with a time of 21.81 seconds. Brown and Long were neck and neck at the end, finishing with a 21.90 and 21.91 respectively.

But Richardson's fourth-place finish due to a time of 22.16 wasn't good enough to see her through to Paris. Not at this event, at least.

Last weekend Richardson torched the rest of the Olympic qualifying field with a time of 10.71 - which would rank as the eighth-fastest time ever for the women's 100-meter dash.

It may be a disappointment to Richardson, but one she can easily remedy with a big showing in her signature race. With the way she's been racing and the way some of the other contenders have looked this year, she should be among the favorites to take the gold she couldn't go for back in 2021.

Will Sha'Carri Richardson return from Paris as an Olympic gold medalist?
