REPORT: ALABAMA TO PAY NICK SABAN $500,000 PER YEAR IN NEW ROLE

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban is in a new role with the Crimson Tide, playing an administrative role where his immense knowledge can be tapped into for the benefit of the program. And his salary in that role has been revealed.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Saban will be paid $500,000.04 per year.

Saban explained what he hoped to accomplish in his new role back in February, shortly after making the transition away from coaching.

“I’m anxious to see that we can do whatever we can to continue to support Alabama athletics and the athletic program and the football program and hope that the players and the coaches that are there continue to have a great amount of success,” Saban said.

Saban has also taken on responsibilities outside of coaching, most prominently as a guest analyst on ESPN’s ever-popularCollege GameDay show. He’s been a hit so far.

He’ll continue to serve in that capacity this fall, as well as making various other appearances for ESPN.

Through it all, he’ll also be supporting the Crimson Tide in his new role. He’s just got too much Tuscaloosa in his blood at this point to do it any other way.

“That’s our home. That’s our family. It’s our community,” Saban said in February. “We’re going to continue to do things to help the community every way that we can. The coaches all know that I’m available if they need me in any way, shape or form to help them.

“I talk to Kalen (DeBoer) every now and then, and I talk to the defensive coordinator (Kane Wommack) every now and then. He’s going to come over and meet me this week sometime. We’re around. We’re there to support the players and help them in any way that we can to help them be successful.”

Saban spent the last 17 seasons as Alabama’s head coach and led the Crimson Tide football team to six national championships. Nine days after Alabama’s 2023 campaign ended with a loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl semifinal, Saban informed the team he was stepping away from coaching, and the Tide hired Washington’s Kalen DeBoer two days later.

They’ll go into the post-Saban era with high expectations, and Saban will certainly be watching intently.
