NICK SABAN OFFERS CRUCIAL ADVICE TO SEC COACH

It's an intriguing season for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2024. The Rebels are coming off its first 11-win season in program history in 2023, and Ole Miss has also achieved 10 or more wins in two of the last three seasons.

The Rebels have high expectations after finishing with the top transfer portal class in the country, and Ole Miss should also benefit from the expanded playoffs. Some experts even have Ole Miss in their preseason top 10 heading into the 2024 season

According to an article from USA TODAY, former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban called Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and offered some advice. He told Kiffin to make sure to tune out the "rat poison."

“He said, ‘Remind those players about rat poison,’” Kiffin said. “‘Remind them that those people that are writing that stuff on the internet about how great they are, ... it's probably some big fat guy in his underwear who doesn't know (crap) about football.’”

"Rat poison" is something Saban has used in the past, referring to outside noise. He has emphasized the need to tune it out when aiming to win a national championship.

For Ole Miss, this could be a season full of "rat poison." According to ESPN's Football Power Index, the Rebels are ranked as the No. 16 team in the country. The FPI gives Ole Miss a 20.7% chance of making the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.
