KENTUCKY LOSES KEY PLAYER TO TRANSFER PORTAL FOLLOWING NCAA TOURNAMENT LOSS

Kentucky guard Adou Thiero has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, per Jamie Shaw of On3 Sports.

Thiero just finished his sophomore season with the Wildcats, which ended abruptly after a first-round upset in the NCAA Tournament.

Thiero appeared in 25 games for John Calipari's squad this past season, making 19 starts. Through that time on the court, he averaged 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Despite earning a No. 3 seed in this year's Big Dance, Kentucky fell to the No. 14 seed Oakland Golden Grizzlies in the Round of 64. This loss continued a disappointing trend for Coach Cal in the Wildcats, who've now gone 1-4 in their previous five NCAA Tournament games.

Many thought the program might move on from Calipari and begin a new era in Lexington, but athletic director Mitch Barnhart has announced his return as head coach for another season in 2024-25.

Thiero joined the Kentucky program as a four-star recruit out of Leetsdale, Pennsylvania in 2022. Now, he's on the hunt for a new team.
