HISTORIC CFB PROGRAM EARNS COMMITMENT FROM TOP FIVE IN-STATE RECRUIT

With Brent Venables’ Oklahoma Sooners entering the upcoming season as newly minted members of the SEC, the program will have to earn its place amongst the top teams. That task might be a bit easier with 2025 four-star cornerback Trystan Haynes announcing his commitment to the program Tuesday.

Listed as 6-foot-2 and 175 lb. corner from Midwest City, Oklahoma, Haynes is ranked the No. 5 recruit in Oklahoma, No. 18 cornerback and No. 148 overall according to On3's Industry Rankings.

Haynes chose the Sooners over other elite programs in Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Georgia.

“I took my time making this decision because I wanted to the decision that best was best for me, my family and my future… With that being said, I had to make a decision ‘Sooner’ rather than later,” Haynes announced through a commitment video he posted on X.

His size and quickness should greatly benefit the Sooners' ability to defend against the high-flying offenses in the SEC.
