Year two of the Brian Kelly era at LSU was supposed to result in a trip to the College Football Playoff. But just five games into the season, those aspirations have been obliterated.
LSU lost its second game of the season on Saturday night in a 55-49 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. The Tigers defense gave up 706 total yards of offense to Ole Miss, a record for the Rebels program.
There's blame to go all around. But, per usual, it's all reflecting back on the head coach.
Calls are mounting for LSU to get rid of Kelly after just his second year. Things aren't going too well over there in Baton Rouge.
"Fire Brian Kelly cus every time I see him & that Fake Creole accent, he is the reason LSU is taking Ls," one fan wrote.
"Fire Brian Kelly, HE IS NOT THE GUY," another fan commented.
"Brian Kelly needs to pull the fire alarm," said Three Year Letterman.
"Fire Brian Kelly for that 3rd down call," a fan said.
"I just want LSU to hurry up and fire Brian Kelly so I can cheer for them again," one fan pleaded.
"Fire Brian Kelly. He’s not it, you missed on Lincoln and you got the Notre Dame coach who is inconsistent," a fan demanded.
"Fire Brian Kelly it’s no way around it man.., he’s not SEC Material send him to the Sunbelt," one fan replied.
You can tell plenty about a team's culture when it plays in close games. So far, LSU is 1-2 in those moments, thanks to a close win vs. Arkansas last week.
The bad news for Kelly and the Tigers? No. 23 Missouri awaits next weekend. Another loss and Kelly's seat is going to get real hot.
