5-STAR ILLINOIS TARGET WILL RILEY SETS COMMITMENT DATE

Brad Underwood will look to add one more piece to his 2024-25 roster later this month.

Five-star wing Will Riley will announce his commitment on June 23.

He’s considering Arizona, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky and the professional New Zealand Breakers on June 23. He is in the Class of 2025 but is considering reclassifying to 2024 to play college this winter.

The 6-foot-8 wing is the No. 15 player in the 2025 class, per 247Sports. They have him as the third-best small forward in the country. A native Canadian, Riley plays for the Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Riley’s size and skill set make him a positive addition to any college roster looking to survive in the modern day. The Kitchener, Ontario native possesses great length, a reliable jump shot and a package of ways to finish at the rim.

Riley put up an impressive performance in last month’s Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, scoring 42 points and breaking the record for the most points scored by a Canadian in the EYBL. His craftiness and ability to create shots for himself and others, combined with his size, might even remind you of Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony has Riley projected to be the 16th overall pick in his 2025 NBA mock draft, a draft that many believe could see soon-to-be Illinois teammate Kasparas Jakucionis also drafted in the first round.
