2025 LB MYLES JOHNSON DECOMMITS FROM ALABAMA

Brewton (Ala.) Tri Miller three-star linebacker Myles Johnson has decommitted from Alabama.

Johnson had previously been committed to Crimson Tide since November 2023, but had not been a top target for the new coaching regime under Kalen DeBoer that took over in January.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder is the No. 491 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 49 linebacker and the No. 25 recruit in Alabama.

Johnson is the second decommitment of the day for the Tide, joining Denton (Md.) North Caroline four-star athlete Zymear Smith, who announced his decision early Wednesday afternoon.

While he didn’t take an official visit to Tuscaloosa this summer, Johnson did visit both Florida and Ole Miss. And those two programs are expected to be among the contenders now that his recruitment is open.

The Gators are trending as the favorite to land him now — and have been for nearly a month. On June 9, Florida insider Corey Bender logged an expert prediction for UF to ultimately win out with Johnson.

“All in all, communication with the Crimson Tide is minimal right now, while multiple Gators coaches are pursuing Myles Johnson multiple times a week,” Bender wrote. “They’ve been pushing fairly hard since an offer was extended at the start of the year. That was after Johnson’s first visit to the Swamp.”

Tide posses nation’s No. 2 recruiting class

Despite the losses of Smith and Johnson, Alabama still has the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Earlier on Wednesday, the Tide landed a commitment from Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods four-star EDGE Justin Hill, a top-50 prospect overall.

The class is now back down to 20 total commits — 16 of whom are blue-chippers. Mission Viejo (Calif.) five-star cornerback Dijon Lee, the No. 30 overall prospect in the nation, headlines the class and was one of 10 recruits who committed to the Tide last month.

Eastman (Ga.) Dodge County four-star athlete Darrell Johnson is also a top-50 commit, while Selma (Ala.) Southside four-star athlete Derick Smith, Duncanville (Texas) four-star quarterback Keelon Russell, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star cornerback Chuck McDonald and Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley four-star linebacker Dawson Merritt are all top-100 prospects in the mix.

Carmel (Calif.) four-star offensive tackle Jackson Lloyd and Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East four-star interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll each committed in June and are top-30 prospects in the 2025 On300.
