PENGUINS GOALIE JOINING TEAM USA AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins already have a fair amount of representation at the upcoming IIHF World Championship, but a new name has been added to the list. Team USA added Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to their tournament roster.

Team USA initially announced their roster with just two goalies, Alex Lyon and Trey Augustine, but added Nedeljkovic just a few days before puck drop in Czechia.

Nedeljkovic played his first year with the Penguins in 2023-24 and had a solid season. He stole the starting role from Tristan Jarry down the stretch as the team was desperately trying to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Ultimately missing on the chance for playoff hockey, multiple Penguins are heading to Czechia for this year’s World Championship.

In 38 games played this season, Nedeljkovic picked up an 18-7-7 record with a single shutout. He secured a .902 save percentage and 2.97 goals against average. His 13 straight starts to end the season were by far his highlight, going 8-1-3 as the Penguins fought tooth and nail for a chance at the postseason.

Nedeljkovic joins Team USA with Penguins assistant coach Ty Hennes behind the bench.

This will be Nedeljkovic's third time representing Team USA one the international stage. The most recent coming in 2016 when he helped the United States win a bronze medal at the World Junior Championship. He played seven games securing a 4-2 record.
