NBC SPORTS NAMES THE NFL'S SIX BEST RIVALRIES RIGHT NOW

The NFL is filled with several long-standing rivalries that have been heated for decades.

But currently, NBC Sports' Mike Florio and Chris Simms think the best grudge matches in the sport are of the newer variety.

Florio and Simms unveiled their personal takes on the top three rivalries in the NFL Tuesday morning, and only one of them has historical bad blood.

Florio ranked his best rivalries as follows:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills
  2. Green Bay Packers-Detroit Lions
  3. Kansas City Chiefs-Los Angeles Chargers

Meanwhile, Simms' list looked like this:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs-Cincinnati Bengals
  2. Kansas City Chiefs-San Francisco 49ers
  3. Philadelphia Eagles-San Francisco 49ers

Of those six pairings, only the Packers and Lions have been rivals for the long haul. The Chiefs are so well-represented largely because of Patrick Mahomes and the fact they've won three Super Bowls in the last five seasons.

The Bills, Bengals and Chargers all have young, elite quarterbacks trying to unseat Mahomes, while San Francisco has lost to KC in two Super Bowls.

Speaking of the 49ers, they have been dueling with the Eagles for NFC supremacy in each of the last two seasons, and both teams should be among the conference's best again in 2024.

There were a few other directions Florio and Simms could have taken these rankings, most notably by including more well-established rivalries such as Cowboys-Eagles or Ravens-Steelers.

Two decent lists, overall, but we might make a few tweaks, first by subbing out Chiefs-Chargers. What do you think?
