LIONS ACQUIRE RILEY PATTERSON FROM JAGUARS

Before the Jacksonville Jaguars released kicker Riley Patterson, they agreed to send him to the Detroit Lions on Thursday in exchange for a late-round draft pick. Patterson became expendable in Jacksonville after the Jags signed former Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus. The 23-year-old played in 17 games for the Jaguars in his second year in the NFL in 2022 and made 85.7 percent of his 35 field-goal attempts while missing just one of his 37 extra-point tries. He kicked for the Lions in his rookie season and made 13 of his 14 field-goal attempts in seven games. Patterson is now set to compete for the kicking job this summer with Michael Badgley and John Parker Romo in Detroit.
