COWBOYS DRAFT THREE NEW STARTERS IN MOCK

With the 2024 NFL Draft almost upon us, the Dallas Cowboys still have plenty of needs they must address. Whether it be another playmaker on offense, line help on both sides, or perimeter players to bolster an inconsistent secondary, Dallas has to hit this process out of the park.

In Dane Brugler’s seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, it played in a where many Cowboys fans would probably be satisfied, especially in the early rounds.

24 — Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

56 — Payton Wilson, LB, NC State

87 — Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee

174 — Matt Lee, C, Miami (FL)

216 — Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State

244 — Javonte Jean-Bapiste, EDGE, Notre Dame

“Ideally, the Cowboys would love to keep Tyler Smith at left guard, but it might depend on how this draft plays out, Brugler wrote on Dallas’ first selection at No. 24 overall. “In this scenario, they add the raw but toolsy tackle, who they hope will be the next Tyron Smith.”

Guyton has all the tools in the world to be a potential Pro Bowl-caliber left tackle. The question is will he be consistent enough, especially against elite speed rushers coming right after Dak Prescott’s blindside.

Later on in Brugler’s mock draft, Dallas further addressed the offensive line adding a competitor for the open starting center position.

“If the Cowboys had to play a game tomorrow, the coaches would be comfortable starting Brock Hoffman at center,” Brugler wrote. “But they will address the position at some point in the draft. With his anchor and quickness, Lee is terrific value in the late fifth.”

The NFL draft will take place April 25-27 in Detroit, Michigan. The Cowboys have a lot of pressure arriving next weekend for their front office. .. pressure that could be eased if they really add a trio of starters.
