SPURS HAVE NEXT BASKETBALL COACH PRODIGY?

JULY 2 BALLBOY TURNED HEAD COACH  Erik Spoelstra seems like the rule, not the exception, regarding the fairytale story breaking through to the head coaching ranks. However, the San Antonio Spurs have someone on their staff who possibly has a more inspirational story than the All-Time head coach.

Kenny Trevino, the head coach of the Spurs Summer League roster, comes from the humblest of beginnings. He was the team's head video coordinator before being selected as the head coach to lead the Spurs hopefuls. Amazingly, 11 years ago, Trevino was a ballboy for the Spurs, making his current status in the franchise a rags-to-riches story.

Perhaps the Spurs have the next basketball prodigy on their staff. Nonetheless, Gregg Popovich would have to retire first.

JULY 1 WHO GOT LEFT OUT? Courtesy of FIBA's social media, we get a break from free agency to play a little game. Jeremy Sochan recently picked his all-time San Antonio Spurs starting lineup. In what seemed like a smart business decision, Sochan mentioned afterward he didn't want to pick any current players.

JULY 1 DERRICK WHITE GETS MONEY FOR DENTAL WORK Former San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White re-signed with the Boston Celtics on a four-year, $125.9 million extension. The championship-level guard averaged 16.7 points on 40 percent shooting from the three-point line. During the 2024 NBA Finals, White's face was mashed into the hardwood, causing the veteran guard to lose a few teeth. It's safe to say he can replace them now in light of his new contract.
