MARK JACKSON EXPLAINS WHY TIM DUNCAN IS NOT UNDERRATED AS AN ALL-TIME PLAYER: "I DON'T THINK WE DISRESPECT HIM"

Mark Jackson believes Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward of all time and isn’t someone who is underappreciated. In the latest episode of “The Mark Jackson Show,” the former NBA player and coach revealed who he thinks is actually the most underrated power forward.

“I think we rate him just fine, and we don’t disrespect him at all. I think we probably disrespect the rest of the pool. I believe a guy like Charles Barkley is the second-best power forward in the history of this game. Championship or not. His presence, I played against him, I competed against him, I watched him, but Tim Duncan, I believe we rank and rate him just fine. He’s an all-time great, and what he did in San Antonio in all those years is recognized, appreciated, and acknowledged,” Jackson said.

Would Timmy D be as great if he played today?

Mark is correct in stating that he thinks the San Antonio Spurs legend is properly rated. If you look at any Top 10 list today by certified NBA analysts and even former players, Duncan’s name would appear in there as he’s pretty much known as the undisputed greatest power forward of all time.

But what if the five time champion played in this era where an ideal big man can shoot the basketball? Would Tim have the same success? Jackson thinks so:

“Late in his career, he won some games shooting threes. So, I absolutely believe so. I believe he got every bit out of his tank he got in him that he had in it at the end of his career. He had an incredible career and somebody we’ll be talking about years from now,” Jackson added.

Timmy on his legacy

Perhaps one of the reasons why some think that Duncan is underrated is because he was a lowkey superstar who played for a small market team. That’s actually how the 15-time All-Star preferred to go about his career, but he was as competitive and committed to being as great as possible.

“It’s all a combination of a competitiveness on my own part, a love for playing the game, hating losing, and an organization [like the Spurs] committed to putting the best things in place to give a city, a team, a player like myself an opportunity to win year in and year out,” Duncan told NBA.com of his greatness and legacy.

Despite his laid-back personality, there was nothing quiet about Timmy's game and career, as he will be in the conversation about the game's greatest players for a long time.
