BOSTON CELTICS RESIGN ANOTHER RESERVE FORWARD

Another member of the 2023-24 NBA Champion Boston Celtics will continue to play for the team.

President of basketball operations Brad Stevens and the Celtics resigned a player for the fifth time in the last three days.

The Celtics resigned forward Xavier Tillman to a two-year, minimum-salary contract.

Tillman appeared in 20 games during his first season as a member of the Celtics and started two of them.

During those games, Tillman averaged 13.7 minutes, four points, 2.7 rebounds and one assist per game while shooting 51.5% from the field and 28.6% from 3-point range.

During Boston's Playoff run, Tillman helped fill the void left by starting center Kristaps Porzingis.

Tillman appeared in eight games throughout the Playoffs and averaged 8.6 minutes per game during those appearances.

Tillman was originally drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the 35th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft but was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies prior to the start of the 2020-21 season.

During his four seasons in Memphis, Tillman averaged around 15 minutes per game.

Arguably the best season of Tillman's career so far was the 2022-23 season where he appeared in 61 games and started 29 of them.

During that season Tillman averaged 19.3 minutes, seven points, five rebounds, 1.6 assists and one steal while shooting 61.4% from the field and 26.7% from beyond the arc.

Tillman, a 6-foot-7 forward who can play multiple positions, has been a valuable depth pice throughout his career and will be looking to take on a bigger role with the Celtics.
