76ERS ARE SHOWING INTEREST IN NETS VETERAN

The Philadelphia 76ers are making noise in free agency as they try to once again put a championship contender around former MVP Joel Embiid and give him the help he needs, as the team has already signed superstar Paul George and Andre Drummond while re-signing Kelly Oubre.

The work isn’t done yet, and recent reports suggest one intriguing Brooklyn Nets veteran is now on their radar, presumably to help mitigate the loss of Nicolas Batum, who recently signed a deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Sixers are interested in Dorian Finney-Smith, and Scotto said: “The 76ers have exploratory interest in trading for Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith, league sources told HoopsHype, but nothing is considered imminent there.”

The Nets are clearly open for business after trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks, and Finney-Smith seems like a sure bet to be shipped out of town along with fellow veteran forward Cameron Johnson.

DFS averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season and has seen his shooting numbers fall off quite a bit since joining the Nets halfway through the 2022-23 season.

Finney-Smith would be an ideal complement to the Sixers’ new big three of Embiid, George, and Tyrese Maxey and hopefully playing alongside those three would help him get back to the 39.5-percent three-point shooter he was alongside Luka Doncic in 2021-22.

The window for this team is closing with Embiid now hitting 30 years old, and it’s time to go all in now more than ever before.
