HIGHLIGHTS! ‘POATAN’ DESTROYS JIRI WITH WILD HEAD KICK TKO

Alex Pereira looked better than ever last night (Sat., June 29, 2024) at UFC 303 LIVE on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, retaining his UFC light heavyweight championship with a gnarly second-round TKO (head kick and punches) over former titleholder Jiri Prochazka.

Prochazka landed some good punches in the first round, but the most damage was done by Pereira’s leg kicks and sharp strikes from range. The champion even landed a left hook towards the end of the first round that rattled Prochazka and sent him crashing to the canvas. He was ultimately saved by the bell.

Pereira fought smart to start the second round and immediately landed a nasty switch kick that caught Prochazka flush and knocked him to the canvas. “Poatan” quickly followed up with heavy ground-and-pound before the referee put a stop to the action. Prochazka was clearly out and stumbled around the cage when he tried to return to his feet.

This was yet another incredible performance by Pereira. Prochazka may have given him trouble in their first meeting back at UFC 295, but the rematch was all about the champion. Pereira looked unstoppable and just raised his UFC popularity even more.
