NEW YORK YANKEES OPTION INFIELDER JUST HOURS AFTER HE WAS CALLED UP

The New York Yankees optioned infielder Oswald Peraza to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the team announced Sunday.

This move comes just hours after the Yankees recalled Peraza to the 26-man roster following the news that Giancarlo Stanton was going on the injured list.

However, the Yankees announced a trade just before Sunday's series loss to the Atlanta Braves, acquiring infielder J.D. Davis in a deal with the Oakland Athletics.

Peraza wasn't expected to be with the Yankees on the big-league roster for more than a few days, and players move up and down the organization all the time. So, this isn't a major surprise.

The same-day call-up then option is typically reserved for relief pitchers and spot starters so it was a bit comical that it happened to Peraza.

The 24-year-old infielder has a .180 batting average and .604 OPS across all three minor-league levels in 155 plate appearances and 35 games this season.
