DODGERS NEWS: NICK RAMIREZ JOINS DODGERS, MICHAEL PETERSEN SENT TO MINORS

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a roster change ahead of their final game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nick Ramirez has been recalled, while Michael Petersen has been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Manager Dave Roberts mentioned that the bullpen needed a fresh arm due to the starters' recent struggles to pitch deep into games. Ramirez, who has already made six appearances for the Dodgers this season with a 3.86 ERA, returns to the team. In Triple-A, he has been impressive, boasting a 2-0 record and a 2.45 ERA across 15 games, including two starts.

The 34-year-old left-hander has a mixed Major League history, having played parts of five seasons with the Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and now the Dodgers. Over his career, he has a 7-7 record with a 4.03 ERA in 102 games. The Dodgers acquired him from the Yankees in April for cash considerations.

Petersen, who pitched last night and allowed four runs in two innings, has had a challenging stint with the Dodgers. In his six appearances, he has a 2-0 record but a 4.66 ERA over 9.1 innings. Despite this, he has been solid in Triple-A, maintaining a 2-0 record and a 1.61 ERA in 23 games.

Petersen's journey to the majors has been long and arduous. Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2015, he spent eight seasons in the minors before making his MLB debut on June 16. His perseverance paid off, and although he didn't expect to make the Dodgers' roster out of Spring Training, he aimed to make a positive impression.

While Petersen heads back to Triple-A, he remains a valuable depth option for the Dodgers and could see another call-up later this season.
