DODGERS NEWS: LA BOOSTS INFIELD DEPTH WITH NL WEST RIVAL'S VETERAN SIGNEE

The Dodgers have bolstered their infield depth by signing veteran Alan Trejo to a minor league contract, assigning him to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Trejo, 28, made an immediate impact in his debut, reaching base four times with two doubles and two walks.

Trejo, who spent parts of the last four seasons with the Colorado Rockies, was drafted by them in the 16th round in 2017 and debuted in the majors in 2021. Over his MLB career, he has appeared in 173 games, posting a .228 batting average, .276 on-base percentage, and .334 slugging percentage, with nine home runs and 47 RBIs.

This season has been challenging for Trejo, who struggled with a .143 batting average and an OPS of .325 before being designated for assignment by the Rockies. Despite these struggles, he has shown versatility, playing second base, shortstop, and third base.

The Dodgers hope to help Trejo rediscover his form, particularly the version of him from 2022 when he hit .271 with an OPS of .736 in 35 games. Trejo's addition provides valuable infield depth at Triple-A, and the team’s hitting coaches will work closely with him to reignite his career.
