DODGERS NEWS: L.A. MAKES PAIR OF ROSTER MOVES: MATT GAGE ADDED, J.P. FEYEREISEN SENT DOWN

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made an couple of adjustments to their roster, selecting Matt Gage's contract and optioning him to Triple-A Oklahoma City. To accommodate this move, J.P. Feyereisen has been outrighted to Oklahoma City after clearing waivers.

This decision likely stems from Gage's approaching opt-out date in his Minor League contract. By adding the left-hander to the 40-man roster, the Dodgers have positioned him for a potential bullpen role later this season.

Gage started the season on the Minor League injured list and was briefly released on April 2 when the Dodgers claimed Taylor Trammell off waivers. He quickly rejoined the organization with a new Minor League contract. So far, Gage has posted a 1-2 record with a 2.79 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 18 appearances for Oklahoma City, including 6.1 consecutive scoreless innings in his last five games.

Meanwhile, Feyereisen, who was optioned to Triple-A on June 21 to make room for Landon Knack in the starting rotation, has had a challenging season. After missing all of 2023 due to shoulder surgery, he has struggled in his 10 appearances for the Dodgers this year. Despite a brief stretch of seven scoreless outings, he allowed four runs in a game at Coors Field on June 17. Feyereisen currently holds a 1-4 record with a 6.75 ERA in 15 games (two starts) for Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers acquired Gage and prospect Christian Zazueta Jr. in a trade with the New York Yankees in February, which sent Caleb Ferguson to New York.
