DODGERS NEWS: DODGERS SIGN ALAN TREJO AFTER HE ELECTS FREE AGENCY

The Los Angeles Dodgers have added infielder Alan Trejo to their roster, signing him to a Minor League contract. Trejo will make his debut with Triple-A Oklahoma City tonight in Las Vegas.

Trejo, who was recently designated for assignment by the Colorado Rockies, chose free agency over a Minor League assignment. Despite limited Major League service time, Trejo was eligible for free agency due to a previous outright in his career.

This season, Trejo struggled at the plate, hitting just .143 with one RBI in 28 games for the Rockies. Over his four seasons with Colorado, he has primarily played second base but also has experience at shortstop and third base.

The 28-year-old is a Los Angeles native and attended San Diego State University. His addition to the Dodgers' organization comes as the team deals with various injuries and inconsistent production from their lineup and bench. Mookie Betts' fractured left hand has forced Miguel Rojas into a more prominent role at shortstop, and the team is being cautious with his workload.

With the MLB trade deadline approaching on July 30, the Dodgers may continue to explore options to bolster their infield. Potential targets include Bo Bichette and Paul DeJong, with Willy Adames also being a possibility, though the Brewers are currently leading the National League Central.
