ANGELS NEWS: MARINERS BOOST BULLPEN WITH SIGNING OF FORMER ANGELS RELIEVER

The Seattle Mariners have added a new arm to their bullpen by signing former Los Angeles Angels reliever Chris Devenski. This move comes shortly after Devenski was released by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Devenski, 33, struggled with a 6.75 ERA in 19 appearances for the Rays this season before being designated for assignment. He joined Tampa Bay late in the 2023 season after being released by the Angels in August. Initially, Devenski signed a minor league deal with the Angels in November 2022 and started the season in Triple-A. He was promoted to the major league roster in late April, appearing in 29 games and posting a 3-2 record with 33 strikeouts, an 89 ERA+, 4.12 FIP, and a 1.18 WHIP over 33.2 innings.

Drafted 771st overall by the Chicago White Sox in 2011, Devenski has built a respectable career with a 3.98 ERA, a 27-22 win-loss record, 415 strikeouts, and a 1.14 WHIP across 400 innings in 303 games. His career highlights include a World Series title, an All-Star selection, and participation in a combined no-hitter with the Houston Astros in 2019.
