WHAT IS TIGER WOODS' UPDATED OWGR RANKING AFTER THE 2024 MASTERS?

The 2024 Masters was Tiger Woods' first official tournament that he saw through to the end since 2023. Woods' position on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) before his start was #959 and he finished at #784.

The 15-time Major champion set a personal record of 100 rounds played at Augusta National. Making 24 consecutive cuts at the Masters, Woods also set the record for most consecutive cuts made at the Major.

Woods shot 10-over par for his third round and was the last of the 60 players to make the cut. Woods claimed his performance was the result of his spine surgeries.

He told the PGA Tour ahead of his start at the Masters:

"I hurt everyday. I ache."

The former World No. 1 finished the 2024 Masters 16-over par through 72 holes, the worst performance in his career so far.

Woods is not discouraged by his performance at the Masters and is set to play the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and the British Open later this season. He told PGA Tour reporters:

"It was a good week all around. I think that coming in here, not having played a full tournament in a very long time, it was a good fight on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, yesterday it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it to … [and today], unfortunately, I didn't produce."

Tiger Woods' career high 16-over at the 2024 Masters - Rounds explored

Tiger Woods managed to remain in contention for the first two rounds at 1-over, leading him to make his 24th consecutive cut.

Woods shot 11-over in his third round which was enough for him to make the cut, but it was his worst 18-hole score at Augusta National.

The former World. No. 1 began his final round practice at the 2024 Masters with his son, Charlie Woods, helping him out at the range. He started off the round 1-under through two holes and proceeded to bogey the next. Woods had to claim an unplayable ball on the fourth hole and carded in a triple-bogey.

Tiger Woods' 16-over par finish at the 2024 Masters is his highest score in his career so far.

Tiger Woods' near-fatal accident

Tiger Woods was involved in a near-fatal car crash in 2021. The accident took him out for three years on the PGA Tour after undergoing multiple surgeries for his spine and leg.

In preparation for the 2024 Masters, Woods reportedly woke up each morning at 4 a.m. to do his stretching routine which enabled a relatively pain-free play. He was seen at Augusta National with heat packs over his back.

Tiger Woods has preferred playing in warm weather as it eases his back pain. However, Augusta National saw thunderstorms and a much colder wind chill.

Woods has also been known to struggle with walking up hills and slopes following his ankle fusion surgery in 2023. He said during his 2024 Masters press conference:

"Every shot that's not on a tee box is a challenge. The ankle doesn't hurt anymore. It's fused. It's not going anywhere. So that's fine. It's other parts of my body that now have to take the brunt of it."
